Well,When you practice not Product R&D but another job, related or not, you can also improve your skills in this. Here are some real examples from my own career. In the past I was working as chief chemist in a small company where I used to practice distillation and inorganic synthesis a lot. Meanwhile I was reading a lot of scientific texts (books, papers, patents) in the field of chromatography, organic synthesis, drug chemistry and so on. After severals year I started in a grug company as R&D analyst where the previous self education was of great use and it was easy to adapt to drug R&D. Thank you.

Here are few more that helped me in my journey:- See a lot of Youtube interviews on Product managers from various fields and companies- Enhance your researching and guess-timation skills- Keep yourself updated in the latest technology stack, at least at the base level- Have base-level knowledge on Domain, Technology & Tools- Though Certifications are not the entry ticket, but in the process of achieving, one get through a lot of journey- Actively participate in tech communities & podcasts- Tech conferences and exposure to market play is another key- Start by slowly writing tech blogs/ articles, in the process of refining the written article, one does a lot of research which helps a lot
