Get ready to be inspired! The Montclair Police Athletic League (PAL) and Montclair Recreation Basketball are kicking off another exciting season, and it's already packed with action and star power. This weekend marks the beginning of league play for boys and girls teams in grades 5 through 8 within the Garden State Suburban League.
The season's launch was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to a visit from a hometown hero: Myisha Hines-Allen, a Montclair PAL alumna and current WNBA star with the Dallas Wings. She hosted her inaugural Girls Basketball Camp, bringing along fellow WNBA players Ariel Atkins, Aziaha James, and Paige Beckers, along with several coaches and volunteers. Imagine the thrill as Montclair PAL athletes spent the day training with four current WNBA players, honing their skills and receiving gifts from players and sponsors. What an incredible opportunity!
And that's not all! Montclair PAL is also celebrating the impressive early performance of its 7th-grade boys' team, coached by Zo, who secured second place in the Wayne PAL 2025 Turkey Shootout.
With the new season in full swing, Montclair PAL is actively seeking dedicated volunteers to support its basketball program. If you're passionate about coaching, you can apply online or contact Coach Williams at 973-509-4729 or twilliams@montclairpal.org.
But here's where it gets interesting... The impact of community involvement is undeniable. Do you think programs like these, with the support of professional athletes, significantly influence young athletes' aspirations and drive? Share your thoughts below!
