The Roster Grows
At the beginning of this chapter, you catch up with Minoru and Aoi. The rock monster Gotsumon shows up, alongside two other Digimon, causing Minoru to run to the Shrine, where you end up surrounded. You are then presented with a Karma-based dialogue choice.

Regardless of your choice, you end up in a combat scenario, now with Falcomon on your side. Defeat the Gotsumon and Aoi will eventually rejoin you, alongside her new friend, Labramon.
After a short conversation, you are presented with a choice between Minoru and Aoi. This is an Affinity decision.
- I'll ask Minoru - Affinity with Minoru up!
- Better talk to Aoi - Affinity with Aoi up!
You all agree eventually to try and return to the school despite your surroundings being unfamiliar, and your 3 Digimon companions agree to join you.
You arrive within viewing distance of the school, and Aoi notes that her phone still isn’t working. Everyone recognizes the strangeness of the situation but pushes on. Outside the school, as the sun sets, Agumon asks you about what a school is, presenting you with a Karma-based dialogue choice.
Exploring the School
Once you decide to investigate inside the school, Labramon collapses so the team searches for a first-aid kit. After fixing Labramon up, you discuss the strangeness of the school's condition, and suddenly hear Ryo screaming upstairs.
You find Ryo with a Digimon (later revealed to be Kunemon) in front of him. Not only does Kunemon and now the rest of the Digimon in the room spook him, Ryo claims to have seen a ghost and a giant monster.
Minoru suggests you investigate the chalkboards in the room, so use your camera to scan a board (either side of the room), and cobwebs will suddenly appear covering everything. In a split second, Aoi disappears, and Ryo believes she was abducted by the monster.

Aoi's Abduction
After some deliberation, you are given a choice. These can impact Affinity.
- Exercise some caution. - Affinity with Ryo up!
- Hurry up and save Aoi! - Everyone but Ryo rallies behind you
Exploration Phase
You now enter an Exploration Phase. With various sections of the school unlocked to travel between.
Free Battles are also introduced here; replayable enemy encounters with a revolving roster of enemies. This is a good opportunity to grind your monster's levels up, obtain items, and add new Digimon to your collection.
You are tutorialized on using Talk on enemies in this Free Battle, and the dialogue options that are required to convince them (giving you a better chance of them joining your team/giving you items). The 6 tier bar above the creature shows how convinced it is, and the relevance of your answers to each specific Digimon will dictate how full that bar becomes. For full details, check out our How to Befriend Digimon page.
With that done, you can explore the various areas, searching for items and inspecting anomalies for combat encounters etc. Head to the Classroom and speak to Ryo, where you're presented with a choice. This affects Affinity.
- Raise his spirits. - Affinity with Ryo up!
Examine the desk to the left of Ryo to spot a Spirit Lamp in the drawer. You need Vinegar to loosen the webs, according to Ryo. Head to the Cafeteria and examine the locker on the far left-hand side. Inside is a bottle of Vinegar. Go back to the Classroom and examine the desk again to obtain the Spirit Lamp.

Now head to Corridor and speak with Minoru. All is well until he spots a ghost child on the stairs behind you. Head to the Classroom again and talk to Ryo. He faints.
The Music Room
Now head to School 2F Corridor and examine the Music Room Door. Then head to the Gym and interact with the door ahead. Speaking to a panicked Labramon, you get presented with a choice.
Head to the Faculty Room after receiving the garbled text, and examine the desk on the far right. Labramon will meet up with you, and you'll be given another Karma-based dialogue choice.
Travel to the Toilet and examine the ceiling in the top right corner. After passing through the crawlspace, you'll drop into the Music Room. There you'll meet the ghost children, revealed to be Haru and Miyuki from the intro sequence. They reveal it is a giant spider, Dokugumon, that is terrorizing you and the school at large. After telling you about a secret route, you are given a Karma-based dialogue choice.
Fighting in the Gym
You'll automatically arrive at the Cafeteria. After finding a weakness in the floor and crawling through, you'll arrive in the Gymnasium.
Amongst the webs at the back of the room is an unconscious Aoi. Before the team can reach her, the fearsome Dokugumon drops from the ceiling and you enter a combat scenario.
If you picked up the Spirit Lamp earlier, you’ll use that at the beginning of the fight in conjunction with Agumon’s Pepper Breath to light Dokugumon on fire. This will weaken Dokugumon as you enter the battle proper.
There are 3 level 1 Dokugumon and 1 level 5, so focus on clearing out the level 1 versions first. After clearing the lesser Dokugumons (not compulsory), and lowering the level 5’s health halfway, you will transition to it paralyzing you with a scream, and after a moment of doubt from Takuma, Agumon gives him a pep talk and then begins evolving into his next form (dependent on which Karma path you have followed the most thus far - Tuskmon for Wrathful, Tyrannomon for Harmony, and Greymon for Moral)

After defeating the main Dokogumon and the minions it summons for this second phase, the team celebrates as they save Aoi, and decide to rest in the school overnight. Before you can settle though, Haru and Miyuki appear behind you, and the team all scream in unison.
