Over 2 Dozen Radio Stations Switch to Christmas Music! 🎄 Which Ones Are Near You? (2025)

Hold on to your hats, folks, because the sound of sleigh bells is officially taking over the airwaves! It seems like everywhere you turn, radio stations are flipping the switch to 24/7 Christmas music. And it's happening earlier than ever this year!

As November kicks off, a whopping two dozen radio stations have already embraced the holiday spirit, ditching their usual playlists for non-stop festive tunes. This annual tradition signals, for many, the true start of the Christmas season.

Louisville, Kentucky, has achieved a unique distinction: it's the first market to boast two stations dedicated entirely to Christmas music. Connoisseur Media's "102.3 The Rose" (WXMA) and SummitMedia's "Mix 106.9" (WVEZ) both made the yuletide jump on Saturday, blanketing the city in holiday cheer. It's a Christmas miracle...times two!

But here's where it gets interesting... One station in particular is raising eyebrows and sparking speculation about a potential post-holiday format shakeup. Times-Shamrock's Classic Hits station, "92 Mix-FM" (WQFM) in Nanticoke/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, surprisingly joined the Christmas music bandwagon this year. What makes this noteworthy? They skipped the all-Christmas format in 2024, following their Classic Hits format launch that summer. Could this be a sign of bigger changes to come after the holidays? Only time will tell!

Across the border in Canada, Golden West Broadcasting's "Mix 107.9" (CKFT-FM) in Fort Saskatchewan/Edmonton, Alberta, holds the title of the first Canadian station to embrace Christmas music this year, making the switch way back on Halloween! Now that's dedication!

While we can't possibly track every station that goes all-Christmas (many have been doing it for decades, after all!), we are keeping a close eye on things over at our sister site, RadioDiscussions.com. You can find a user-submitted list of all-Christmas stations here.

And this is the part most people miss... We'll be diligently monitoring those stations that are likely candidates for new formats after Christmas. This includes stations like 103.1 KLO-FM in Salt Lake City. Our annual "Post-Christmas Format Change Watchlist" is coming later this month, so stay tuned for that! It's our way of predicting the next big radio transformations.

Now, here's a thought: Is the early switch to Christmas music a brilliant marketing strategy, or does it lead to holiday fatigue? Does it genuinely uplift spirits, or does it contribute to the commercialization of the season? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Are you already humming along to your favorite Christmas carols, or are you desperately clinging to the last vestiges of autumn? Let us know!
