Leonard Joseph Groves (Lenny), of Sydney Mines, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Lenny was only 36 years old when his life was taken from him. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by Lenny’s sudden death. Lenny was born on September 11 1985, and lived in Sydney Mines for most of his life, but also spent time living in Cheticamp and traveled as far as British Columbia for work.
Those who Knew Lenny loved Lenny, and those who loved Lenny could never stop. He had a life force that shined from the inside out and a smile that was instantly contagious. Lenny had a way of brightening up the darkest of days and even on his worst days, was a force to be reckoned with.
Lenny loved to fish, whether it was when he was working or just for pleasure. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed being outdoors, but his true love was when he was cruising on his motorcycle. He often shared memories of his trips around the Cabot Trail with his brothers.
Lenny was predeceased by his father Leonard Groves, his maternal grandparents Donald and Jessie MacKinnon and paternal grandparents Leonard and Elizabeth Groves.
Lenny is survived By his mother Katie, his brothers Stephen (Diane Leblanc), Luke (Kelsie Confient) and Alex (Breanna Miller)and sisters Niki (Michael Boutilier) and Tammy(Josh Donovan) his "Brother from another mother" Chris White and of course his" Lova Lova" Tammy Whitty," his beautiful children that Lenny held so much love for; Bryer, Belle, Brydon and Joseph, also his two step-children Bryana and Daniel. Lenny had a special bond with all of his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins. He will be greatly missed by them all, but I’m sure that no one could miss him any more than his younger cousin Lee Mackinnon.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a brief visitation and service for Lenny on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home 635 Main St, Sydney Mines from 6-8 pm. Everyone welcome. The complete obituary may be viewed, and words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
My Son
Of all the precious gifts in life however great or small –
To have you as my Son was the greatest gift of all. –
To lose someone so special Is really hard to bear
It hardly seems believable That you’re no longer there
You left us far too early Before your time, it seems
And now you’ll never have the chance, to fulfill all those dreams
However hard it is though We’ll take comfort in the thought
Of all the memories we have, and the happiness you brought
You always lived life to the full, but ours won’t be the same
Until the day when we can see your smiling face again.
Miss and Love you always ....Mom
We would like to thank everyone who has shown their support for Lenny over these past grief filled days, especially to the motorcycle community that has shown so much support from day one, and his Aunty Jeany, who hasn’t left his Moms side since this tragedy happened.
Thank you all.
