When is Groundhog Day?
Groundhog Day is celebrated on the second day of February.

What is Groundhog Day?
The begins of Groundhog Day started a long time ago when nature worship was more prevalent, people in the part of Europe where Germany is today, believed that the badger had the power to predict the coming of spring. They would look to the badger to determine when to plant their crops.
This tradition was brought over to North America, mostly to Pennsylvania in the United Stated. But instead of a badger doing the predicting it was a groundhog.
According to folklore, if the groundhog sees its shadow on February 2 it will return to its hole, indicating that there will be six more weeks of winter. If it does not see its shadow, then spring will arrive sooner.

Where is Groundhog Day celebrated?
Groundhog Day is celebrated in mostly North American countries. In Wiarton, Bruce County, Ontario, in Canada, groundhog, Wiarton Willie, delivers his “prediction” early in the morning on February 2 every year.
In Young Township, near Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, in the US, groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil delivers his “prediction” on Groundhog Day.
